Wakefield comes from behind to beat Leesville

Wakefield had to fight for a win against Leesville Road on Friday night.

The Wolverines used a big fourth quarter to come from behind and beat the Pride, 68-64.

Both teams came out on fire in the first quarter. Wakefield outscored Leesville Road 20-16, but Leesville Road scored 19 points in the second quarter and only trailed by one going into halftime.

The Pride took the lead in the third quarter.

Leesville Road outscored Wakefield 15-12 in the third quarter and led the Wolverines by two points going into the final quarter.

But Wakefield responded. The Wolverines scored 20 points and held Leesville Road to just 14 points in the final quarter, giving Wakefield a four-point win.

Wakefield was led in scoring by Nick Lenox with 16 points. Jalin Barnes added 15 points for the Wolverines, and Logan Evans scored 14 points.

Reggie Jones and Brandon Staves led Leesville Road with 14 points. Mike Adams scored 11 for the Pride.

Wakefield will host rival Wake Forest-Rolesville on Tuesday night in the Wolverines' next game. The Pride will travel to Sanderson. Both boys games will tip at 7 p.m., the girls games are at 5:30.
